them directly into the pore where your old hair follicle fell out creating the most undetectable hairline possible.
When it comes
to rebuilding the hairline with hair follicular units, Mr. Johnson explained that they use 1 and 2 hair follicular units to create
a "soft" hairline edge. This new hairline edge takes approximately 150-200 small follicular units to complete from left temple to
right temple. The follicular units are implanted in a staggered fashion like:. - . - . - . - . - . Implanting the new grafts in a
non-staggered straight line like: . . . . . . and would appear unnatural when the new hair grows in.
"Scalp hair doesn't grow
any smaller then 1 hair”, Mr. Johnson said. The result of this new soft hairline is a natural and undetectable result.
Once the
Board Certified Physicians and Medical Team has established a new hairline, more follicular units are implanted behind the new hairline
and along the frontal and mid-scalp region.
When deciding where to begin the new hairline, Mr. Johnson said a patient should
place their four fingers sideways against their forehead with their "pinkie" finger at the bottom. The pinkie finger should touch
the bridge of the nose, between the eyebrows. The new hairline will then start where the index finger ends at the top of the forehead.
Like
most hair transplant professionals, Mr. Johnson said he doesn't like to position the hairline too low. "It doesn't look good or natural
to have a hairline like a teenager or a 20 year old unless you are experiencing premature hair loss as a teenager”.
He explained
that they like to create a new hairline similar to that of a 30 year-old. A 30 year-old's hairline looks good and natural when our
hair transplant patients gets into their 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond.
